Petrosains
Â
Kuala Lumpur has much to offer both seasoned and novice travelers. The recently opened PETROSAINS is one such interesting place to explore. The PETROSAINS is an interactive science discovery center and will be most enjoyable if you have children under the age of 15 traveling with you. The center is dedicated to explaining the ins and outs of the petroleum industry, but doesn’t go into boring technical details. Not only does the center provide an insight into petroleum science, but it also provides explanations and discovery areas for general sciences.
Â
Focusing mostly on the Malaysian petroleum industry, PETROSAINS is a great informational resource for locals, especially if anyone is interested in entering into a petroleum industry career. For tourists, it’s a rich resource for learning about Malaysia’s strength as a petroleum producing nation. The hands-on learning environment helps everyone explore the possibilities and discover many aspects of petroleum production in a fun and entertaining environment.
Â
Designed as a modern museum, the PETROSAINS offers interactive exhibits, starting with a spectacular ride and continuing in a serial sequence across 7000 square meters of space. The ride’s front seats are occupied by tour guides, presenters and demonstrators and even facilitators, all of them trying their level best to make sure the visitor is enthralled.
Â
Anyone entering the modern museum will be faced with the Sauber PETRONAS Formula One racing car. The ride, named the Dark Ride, takes place after passing the lobby area. The vehicle used is shaped like an oil drop and the ambiance is dark. The entire ride consists of passing through a lovely Malaysian rainforest, surmounting a mountain peak and diving into the deep sea waters. The journey takes you along the natural causes and effects which formed the resources used for petroleum production.
Â
The PETROSAINS science and discovery center belongs to several professional networks, including the Asia pacific Network of Science and Technology (ASPAC), European Collaborative for Science Industry and Technology Exhibitions (ECSITE) and Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC).
